Who are we?
The Super Blues Club is a group of Shrewsbury Town supporters whose main aim is to raise money for Shrewsbury Town Football Club. We currently have almost 500 members and membership is open to anyone who is over 18 years of age. The Super Blues are run by a small committee of lifetime supporters. These include Chris Smith (Chair), Ron Brown, Sheila Downes, Jackie Klekot, Jill Lucas, Mike Minton, David Ruscoe and Chris Winter.
Over the past nine years Super Blues members have raised more than £200,000 for Shrewsbury Town.
What do we do?
We raise funds for Shrewsbury Town by organising various events and activities. At the same time we provide many benefits for Super Blues members.
The events we organise include:
- a monthly prize draw in which all members are included
- an annual Sportsman's Dinner (Autumn)
- an annual Boxing dinner (Spring)
- an annual Golf Day and other activities
- other social functions & events
- sale of Christmas raffle tickets (with other groups)
- sale of fundraising scratch cards (new)
There are discounts on some events for Super Blues members.
We work closely with the other STFC supporters groups.
We are always looking for new ideas for events and activities. We are also always keen to attract new members.
Fundraising Projects
In 2008/09 we raised more than £30,000 for the football club. Thanks to all members and everyone else who has helped us to raise this, including our main sponsors, 'Williams & Picken', and other sponsors. Some of this has been used to purchase a number of items for The Greenhous Meadow, including:
- Gym equipment at the Greenhous Meadow
- New tractor for Ground staff
- Equipment for match day commentaries
- PC, software and camcorder to produce match DVDs
- Washing machine and drier for kit man
- New programme sales booths
